Aaron's Priorities

Aaron Baker stands for a bold, progressive path forward that will prioritize substantial quality of life improvements for all Georgians. District 51 deserves representation that prioritizes people-first policies over corporate interests.

Affordable Housing for All

North Fulton is facing a housing crisis affecting thousands of working-class families. Rent has increased dramatically, while the minimum wage has remained stagnant, unable to keep pace with the rising cost of homes. Essential workers, teachers, nurses, and city workers can’t afford to live where they work. Meanwhile, investors and corporate landlords are buying entire neighborhoods. Legislators have ignored this reality, promoting a status quo that Aaron’s district can't be one for working-class families. But no one should feel priced out of a district they love.

As a state representative, Aaron will fight to end Georgia’s ban on rent control, strengthen tenant protections, end corporate tenant gouging, cap Georgia Power rate increases, advocate for a higher minimum wage, and promote state investment in daycare.

Guarantee Bodily Autonomy

Every Georgian deserves the right to make private medical decisions free from political interference. Georgia’s constitution protects every person’s right to privacy and liberty. These rights must include control over one’s own body. Yet state law currently bans most abortions after about six weeks, long before many people know they are pregnant – and the ban has deadly consequences. Aaron will work to repeal Georgia’s abortion ban, restore full reproductive freedom, and protect providers from criminalization. Furthermore, Aaron will defend the rights of patients and medical providers to make informed decisions regarding access to all forms of gender-affirming care.

A Fully Funded Future for Young Georgians

Every child deserves a fully funded education, regardless of their zip code. Yet right now, Georgia schools are funded based on an outdated formula created nearly 40 years ago. As a State Representative, Aaron is committed to revising the school funding formula to account for inflation, poverty, and the evolving needs of students. She will fight for fully funded public schools, universal pre-K, and living wages for educators.

No One Left Uninsured

Right now, Georgia has the fifth-highest share of residents with no health insurance with nearly 1.2 million people are uninsured. Millions more of Georgians are underinsured, and thousands are burdened by medical debt or denied coverage altogether. Aaron will work to push legislation to expand Medicaid immediately, protect hospitals from closure, and ensure healthcare access isn’t determined by employment, race, or income.

Keeping Families Together

Everyone in Georgia deserves to live without fear that a traffic stop or trip to work will tear their family apart. Aaron will fight to end local participation in federal deportation programs that target immigrant communities, prohibit racial and religious profiling, and require clear limits on when local law enforcement can inquire about immigration status. She will champion due-process protections, access to legal representation, and language-access standards so immigrant families are not unlawfully detained, exploited, or deported in violation of their rights.

People Before Data

Data centers in Georgia use 7 Billion gallons of water and 10 Trillion watt-hours of electricity a year, and are poised to raise utility costs for working families. But, they don't have to. Our economy should always prioritize people and planet before profit. We need ensure new technologies are strongly regulated, environmentally sustainable, and economically fair for working people.

A Living Wage for Georgia Workers

Georgia’s minimum wage is still stuck at $5.15 per hour, leaving the federal $7.25 minimum as the only real floor for pay. That wage hasn’t increased since 2009, even as housing, healthcare, and basic costs have surged. Aaron supports raising Georgia’s minimum wage to $20 per hour so that people who work full time can afford their bills, support their families, and
live with dignity.

Public Transit That Will Get Us There

Accessible public transit means access to opportunity! Increased access to transit has been proven to be an effective tool to reduce traffic and congestion. Aaron is committed to expanding MARTA access across Sandy Springs and the region, ensuring that people can get to work, school, and healthcare without needing a car. She’ll work to secure funding for a safe, reliable, and affordable transportation option to minimize traffic.
