WE NEED
A Fully Funded Future for Young Georgians
Education is the foundation of opportunity, yet Georgia’s schools remain underfunded. Per-pupil funding ranks 46th nationally, and teacher pay ranks 49th, leaving classrooms overcrowded and under-resourced. Schools in low-income and rural areas face the greatest deficits, with shortages of counselors, nurses, and enrichment programs. Without full funding, students lack the tools to succeed, and teachers leave the profession, exacerbating inequities.
As a state representative, Aaron will revise the outdated funding formula, fight for universal pre-K, and ensure educators are paid a living wage, creating a system where every child can thrive.
The Problem:
Underfunded schools: Per-pupil funding in Georgia is $11,774, far below the national average of $14,000.
Teacher pay disparities: Median teacher salary is $60,000, leaving educators underpaid and undervalued.
Resource gaps: Over 40% of students live in low-income households, lacking access to essential supports such as counselors or school nurses.
Inequitable outcomes: Funding disparities perpetuate cycles of poverty and limit educational and workforce opportunities.
The Solution:
Revise funding formula: Update state funding to account for inflation, poverty, and student needs.
Raise teacher salaries: Ensure living wages and competitive pay to retain educators.
Fund essential staff: Guarantee counselors, nurses, and support personnel in every school.
Invest in classrooms and technology: Provide equitable access to books, computers, and broadband.
Expand pre-K programs: Ensure all children have access to early education.
