There can be
No One Left Uninsured
Georgia has one of the highest rates of uninsured residents in the nation, leaving nearly 1.2 million people without health coverage and millions more underinsured. Many Georgians cannot afford basic medical care, preventive services, or prescription medications. Hospitals in rural areas are closing at alarming rates, worsening healthcare deserts, and forcing families to travel long distances for care. Health disparities disproportionately impact Black, Latinx, and low-income communities, making timely care a privilege rather than a right.
Aaron will push to expand healthcare coverage, protect rural hospitals, and ensure healthcare access is equitable, regardless of income, race, or employment status. Quality healthcare is essential for keeping families healthy, workers productive, and communities thriving.
The Problem:
High uninsured rate: Nearly 1.2 million Georgians lack health insurance, ranking Georgia 5th in the nation for uninsured residents.
Underinsurance and medical debt: Millions more Georgians are underinsured, leading to financial hardship or delaying treatment.
Healthcare inequities: Black and Latinx communities face higher rates of preventable illness and lower access to care.
Rural hospital closures: Over 10 hospitals in rural Georgia have closed in the last decade, creating “care deserts.”
The Solution:
Expand access to healthcare, including covering all eligible low-income Georgians.
Protect rural hospitals: Increase funding and resources to prevent closures in underserved areas.
Invest in preventive care: Fund public health initiatives, vaccinations, and wellness programs.
Reduce medical debt: Support state legislation that caps surprise billing and expands access to affordable healthcare.
Increase access to mental health services: Ensure insurance coverage and funding for counselors, therapists, and community programs.
