Public Transit That Will Get Us There
WE NEED
Accessible public transit is essential for connecting Georgians to jobs, education, and healthcare. Inadequate transit options force many low-income residents to rely on long commutes or multiple vehicles, increasing traffic congestion and environmental pollution. Georgia ranks 48th nationally in per-capita transit funding, and traffic costs commuters over $6 billion annually. Expanding MARTA and regional transit options is critical to economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, and equitable access to mobility.
Aaron will fight to secure funding, expand routes, improve safety, and make transit affordable and reliable for everyone.
The Problem:
Limited transit options: Many communities, especially in Sandy Springs and rural areas, lack access to public transportation.
High commuting costs: Long commutes increase expenses for workers and reduce quality of life.
Low investment: Georgia ranks 48th in per-capita transit funding, limiting expansion and maintenance.
Environmental impact: Increased car use contributes to pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
The Solution:
Expand MARTA and regional transit: Add routes and improve service frequency.
Secure state funding: Prioritize public transit in state budgets for infrastructure, safety, and maintenance.
Improve accessibility: Ensure buses and trains accommodate seniors, students, and people with disabilities.
Integrate multimodal options: Build bike lanes, pedestrian-friendly streets, and park-and-ride facilities.
Equity-focused planning: Focus on connecting low-income and underserved communities to job and school centers.
